California has been seeing gasoline prices up around the $5 a gallon mark, so it is not really a surprise to find that electric vehicle sales have been benefiting. Hybrids are benefiting but so to are electric only plug-ins.

The NY Times reports from a San Francisco Nissan dealership who have noted a marked increase in interest in the Leaf in particular.
The Nissan Leaf already gets a possible $7,500 federal tax credit and a $2,500 state rebate, so, if the manufacturer throws in a further financial incentive, you are looking at serious savings. This particular dealer sold 10 Leafs last weekend, having sold 24 in all of September.
A Nissan dealership in Petaluma reports that his normal one or two calls a week about the Leaf has become five a day.
Positive reports also come in for sales and interest in the Chevrolet Volt, the Ford C-Max Hybrid and Mitsubishsi’s all electric MiEV.
