US Dependence on Saudi Oil back on the Rise
Imports of Saudi oil to the United States will rise by 20% this year. Clifford Krauss in the The New York Times reports the pickup started last year, partially as a result of tightening sanctions on Iranian oil sales. According to Krauss, “It is a development that has alarmed conservative and liberal foreign policy experts alike, especially with oil prices and Mideast tensions rising in recent weeks.”

Japanese Firm to Invest $680 Million on Solar
Bloomberg reports Japanese finance and leasing company Orix Corp plans to spend $680 million on solar projects in the next 3 years. Plans come after Japan introduced feed-in tariffs in July. The Japanese incentive programme requires utility companies to pay above market prices to clean energy producers.
