Most Americans Don’t Know What Fracking Is?

The process of hydraulic fracturing has been big news in the environmental and energy spheres over recent months. A controversial topic that makes the news almost daily, fracking is already changing the global energy market. Data from the University of Texas Energy Poll shows that despite extensive media coverage public awareness and understanding are low. 35% indicated they had never heard of the practice and 28% indicated they were “not familiar”. The disconnect between coverage and understanding is both fascinating and troublesome.

The windfarm has a total capacity of 367MW with 102 turbines feeding electricity to the national grid.
