Businessgreen.com tell us that Tesla is building superfast chargers which may allow owners of its Model S sedan travel for free. The chargers would replenish 3 hours of driving at 60mph in 30mins.

Having unveiled the first 6 chargers in California the company plans to roll them out across North America with Europe to follow late next year. A network of fast charging stations addresses a key concern for electric cars (range) and opens up the possibility of long range travel for electric vehicles.
CEO Elon Musk is quoted as saying:
“By making electric long distance travel at no cost, an impossibility for gasoline cars, Tesla is demonstrating just how fundamentally better electric transport can be,” Musk said in a statement. “We are giving Model S the ability to drive almost anywhere for free on pure sunlight.”
